The Sheffield System XWire has a unique helicoidal tip design that has been demonstrated to improve performance and ease of insertion.1 The XWire offers a new lateral olive design and is available in sizes 1.8 to 2.0 mm.
Indication
ACUTE TRAUMA
- Tibial articular fractures: plateau and pilon
- Tibial articular fractures with diaphyseal extension
- High energy diaphyseal fractures of the tibia
- Femoral fractures, particularly distal
- Humeral fractures
LIMB RECONSTRUCTION
- Correction of post-traumatic, acquired and congenital deformities: simple, juxta-articular, oblique plane, multiplanar. The Sheffield Ring Fixator is usually used in the lower limb for tibial and foot deformities, but is also useful for femoral and knee deformities. It may also be used in the upper limb, particularly the humerus
- Arthrodesis: knee, ankle and subtalar joints
- Limb Lengthening: monofocal and bifocal
- Nonunion and bone loss:
- Monofocal – compression, neutralization, distraction
- Bifocal – bone transport, acute shortening, combined multifocal
- Joint contracture in adults and children: knee, ankle and foot
- Articulated distraction: ankle, foot and knee
