Training Philosophy
Appropriate training in the use of our products and associated techniques
is
a priority for the Group. This is provided at two distinct levels: the
education
of our own staff and our outreach program for end-users.
Representative Training
Education begins at home!
Every member of our sales force is provided with
in-depth training in all of the products with which they will be involved.
This
is carried out by a dedicated training group within each of our companies,
and through an "apprentice" program, where new recruits accompany
experienced sales representatives in the field, supported by Product
Specialists. The in-house program comprises lectures and practical
"hands-on" workshops conducted on an ongoing basis by our own medical
team in conjunction with our engineers and senior members of our sales
and marketing teams.
Once they have completed the period of their basic training, our sales
executives equiped to discuss our products with end-users, to run
workshops in hospitals and to provide informed answers to inquiries at
scientific meetings.
The Outreach Program
End-users of our products include surgeons,
nurses and physical
therapists, and our training and educational programs are tailored to
meet
their individual needs.
The Verona Seminars
Orthofix Srl’s facility in Verona, Italy, is the nerve center of our program
of
seminars on fixation for surgeons. These are held every month and over
the
course of a year are attended by some 1000 delegates from all parts of
the
world.
The lecturers at these seminars are members of our International Faculty
of
surgeons, all of whom are recognized experts in their respective fields.
The modern auditorium equipped with closed circuit audio and visual
systems and simultaneous translation facilities seats 96 people.
The workshop area accommodates delegates at 24 stations, each with its
own TV monitor so that the instructor can be followed. With an emphasis
on "hands-on" sessions covering basic and new surgical procedures, many
delegates comment that few universities have such well equipped teaching
facilities.

As we innovate, we educate.
Recognizing that education is key to the continuous growth of the company
and its products, Orthofix subsidiaries bring educational programs to
our
customers in many countries around the world.
Winston Salem Facilities
Our new, state of the art training facilities in Winston-Salem were designed
to draw upon the medical resources of Wake Forest University.
CEU Programs
To assist in understanding the increased success in treatment outcomes
when using bone stimulation, nurses, case managers, and rehabilitation
specialists attending our field CEU programs receive 2.0 credit hours
upon
completion of the course.
University- Linked Training
The Group has firm links with a number of prestigious University
Departments of Surgery around the world at which regular training courses
are held at intervals throughout the year under the direction of the Head
of
Department.
Typical examples are the departments of orthopedic surgery at the
Universities of Sheffield and Dundee in the United Kingdom, and Cologne
in
Germany.
Some of these courses are designed specifically for surgeons while others
are aimed at operating room nursing staff.
In-Hospital Training
Members of the sales force play a major role in the training of surgeons
within individual hospitals, giving presentations and running workshops
for
residents and senior personnel, alike. In those territories where the
Group
is represented by subsidiaries, this function is carried out by the trained
sales representatives of the subsidiary company, supported by material
provided by our own training departments.
