Immobility following surgery or trauma creates a real risk of DVT. The A-V Impulse System compresses the plantar venous plexus to eliminate venous stasis and reduce the risk of thrombosis.
Unlike other mechanical methods of improving venous blood flow, the A-V Impulse System produces a high velocity surge of venous return, the resultant turbulent flow can scour out vein valve pockets - a likely area for the formation of thrombi.
This high velocity surge of venous return creates shear forces on the endothelial walls, releasing EDRF. This lubricates blood flow and makes the endothelium non adhesive.
Where bleeding is a concern, the A-V Impulse System can be used to provide safe and effective DVT prophylaxis without fear of haemorrhagic complications.
Compatible with other treatments, including CPM, external fixation and limb casting, the A-V Impulse System provides almost unrestricted access to the extremities.
